Our mission is to create a place to call home

for people with developmental disabilities and those who share life with them.

NEWS

LIFE IN THE HOMES

Nehalem

H      Text Box: Prayer Night
Wed., Oct. 17, 7:00 p.m.
Neahkahnie House
Adam Richards visited Sts. Peter and Paul Church on 82nd and Pine St. last Sunday, and enthusiastically joined in a volunteer yard-work day after the service.  He keeps talking about how great it was!

H      John Gallagher, Joni Smith, Ben Luginbuhl, and Marilyn Petruzzelli enjoyed a recreational ride around the fareless square on the MAX.  It was free fun for the whole family.

H      Marilyn has attended several events at Marylhurst with Susan and the Holy Names community.  She continues to find those meetings very life-giving.  (You may recall that Marilyn is an honorary associate member of the Holy Names order.)

Neahkahnie

H      Ben Miller’s vocational program, Portland Supported Employment, has moved to a new site that provides more space and versatility to engage in a whole of host of activities.

Community cats

H      Moki finally returned to Neahkahnie House in good health after an extended stay at the vet last month. Everyone breathed a sigh of gratitude to have him back. Rodney Gabriel calls him “Poor cat!” but the rest of us think Moki enjoys quite the good life.

H      Pumpkin is the apple of Marilyn’s eye and a delight to the other folks at Nehalem as well. She has the run of the house and has many caring attendants to open the front door for her every hour.

It seems so clear that God had been there guiding us all on this journey, in the discrete way that God does such things: giving the impression that we are doing it all, whereas in reality it is God who is shaping, guiding things through us all, inspiring people to be committed to the vision.
