for people with developmental disabilities and those who share life with them.

NEWS

Ì       Text Box: Prayer Night
Wed., Jan. 16, 7:00 p.m.
Neahkahnie House
Neahkahnie House welcomes Brandi Crawford as a new Assistant beginning January 8th.  Brandi is originally from Salem, Oregon and brings experience in both community living and Special Education. We are grateful to have her as an Exploratory Member.

Ì       Our annual Christmas Tree Sale was a great success once again!  We met our goal and netted over $17,000!  To all the volunteers without whom this important fundraiser could not happen, thank you from the bottom of our hearts!  Special thanks to the Tree Sale Committee who took the management of the sale out of the office for the first time:  Jacob Florer-Bixler, Cat Willett, Paul Della, Matt Weisensee, Dave Heard, Diane Frank, Frank Storm, Mike Yates, and of course Jerry Weisensee.

Volunteer Appreciation Party!

Our community could not thrive without all the care and support we receive from you. We want to honor your participation in the mission of L’Arche Nehalem with a celebration. Please mark your calendars for Saturday, February 2nd from 10:30 a.m. -12:00 noon, and come on over to Neahkahnie House for a special time of connection.

LIFE IN THE HOMES

H   Meredith Zubel is moving to Nehalem House this month to complete the Assistant team there and make room for Neahkahnie to welcome Brandi. Thank you, Meredith, for your commitment to our whole community.

H   Everyone in both houses enjoyed the Festival of Lights at the Grotto this year. Admission was provided by the Grotto free of charge. Thank you!

H   Many people made our holidays bright with their gifts and time spent in our homes. A heartfelt Thank You especially to Joan Mahler, Jerry Deas & Tom Cook, David Cutter, Phyllis Duris, John Phillips, Nancy Monaco, Paul and Tricia Curley, the Wheelers, Karen and Jeff Gallagher, Dave Cady, Pa Frank, Bobby and Kathy Richards, the Dulaneys, and Frank Koza’s prayer group from Holy Redeemer for your generosity.

People with developmental disability are called to holiness.  They are called to become our teachers on the spiritual level.  They open up for us a simple path of love.  They lead us towards deeper spiritual confidence.  They remind us that if we do not become like little children, we will not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
