Our mission is to create a place to call home for people with developmental disabilities and those who share life with them.

Uncle Paddy Wants You For The Shamrock Run!
Make new friends, connect with old ones, wake up some birds and join us Sunday, March 13 from 6:00 to 10:00 a.m. in Waterfront Park to help with the Shamrock Run. We need 25 people to volunteer, and L'Arche will receive $15 per person. We'll be working as course marshals, and after the race, we'll meet up for free T-shirts and clam chowder. It's a great time, so please join us! Call Dan Barcia (503-251-6940) to sign up.

NEWS

Thank You and Farewell to Mary Ann Ramey
With deep appreciation and gratitude the community gathered on February 19 to celebrate Mary Ann Ramey’s presence as Director in our community these past two and a half years. We used the image of yeast to reflect on the many ways Mary Ann has helped our community grow and develop. Mary Ann will have the month of March to attend the International L’Arche Identity and Mission Reflection Group in Belgium, drive to Mobile, Alabama, and visit a friend in Erie, Pennsylvania, before assuming her role of Community Leader/Executive Director of the L’Arche Mobile community. THANK YOU, MARY ANN!! We want to find ways to keep our two communities connected.
L’Arche Nehalem Community Leader/Executive Director Discernment
Susan Mitchell, snjm, assumes the role of Acting Director on March 1. The Discernment Committee is designing the process and timeline for selecting the person to fill this role for the next four years. Susan is a candidate in this process. Please join in praying for all involved during this time of discernment.

The Holy Family Youth Group brings dinner and shares a meal with Neahkahnie House each month.
The Imago Dei Youth Group is coming March 19 with pizza and a movie to share with the community.

JOURNEYS

Marilyn Petruzzelli went on the train to Richland, Washington, with Sarah Dulaney to visit Sarah’s family Feb. 25-28.
Ben Luginbuhl and Marilyn will join the Tacoma L’Arche Community for their annual retreat at the Trappist Abbey in Lafayette, Oregon, March 7-10.
Adam Richards will be traveling to Florida with his family for his brother’s wedding.

The 38 Faith and Light communities in Syria are full of life: many young people sharing the joy and pain of people with disabilities and their parents. They are a mixture of Catholics and Orthodox, encouraged and supported by their respective bishops. They form a real family. It is beautiful to see how people who are weak can be a source of unity between churches. Peace and unity do not necessarily come from "the top", but from "the bottom", through those who are humble and call forth our hearts.
