APRIL 2005
Our mission is to create a place to call home for people with developmental disabilities and those who share life with them.
ALL THE NEWS THAT FITS, WE PRINT!
We're looking for volunteers to join with
us and volunteers from the Community Independence Project
(CIP) to prepare and plant the garden beds at Nehalem House.
L'Arche Nehalem is participating in CIP's pilot project
designed to respond to the hunger problem in Portland. 75%
of the food from our garden will go to L'Arche Nehalem and
25% will be donated to CIP for use in a food distribution
network. We invite all extended community and
daily-life members to share some time with Susan
Mitchell, snjm to hear the direction of her discernment
and call to be Community Leader. The community will be
invited to ask questions and offer considerations for
Susan's further discernment at this time. Refreshments will
be served!
Community "Town Hall" with Susan: Sunday, April 17 from 1:30

L'Arche Nehalem is continuing the process of discerning a new Community Leader / Executive Director for our community. Susan Mitchell, snjm, is serving as acting director and has offered to let her name stand in the discernment process for the next Community Leader. After soliciting input from a wide sample of Nehalem's daily-life and close extended community, the Discernment Team felt the consensus is to proceed with a closed process at this time with Susan as the sole candidate. Susan has entered into a personal discernment process and will be meeting with different segments of the community in the coming month to share her thoughts and hear feedback. At the end of April, Susan will have an interview with the Discernment Team, who will then give a recommendation to the Board. The members of the Discernment Team welcome questions or input about the process. The members of the team are: Joan Eads, L'Arche USA (206-306-1330), Amy Barcia, Leadership Team Representative (503-251-6901), Pat Boose, Board Rep. (503-653-6865), Dan Barcia, Assistant Rep. (503-251-6940) and Clarissa Schoenberg, Extended Community Rep. (503-282-2474). |
