Volunteers Needed!

A Request from Clarissa Schoenberg and Dorothy Coughlin

The Archdiocese of Portland Office for People with Disabilities will be hosting a retreat for families with children with disabilities. This biannual event (our third!) is a wonderful opportunity for these families to share their stories as well as pray, play and relax together. Volunteers are needed on Saturday, August 28th from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to help with respite care for the children (infant through adult). Respite is provided to enable parents to attend a group session that has proven to be a wonderful source of support and shared wisdom. The retreat is at Aldersgate Retreat Center, about an hour south of Portland. If you are interested in volunteering as a respite care provider, contact Clarissa at 503 282-6231 or Dorothy at 503 233-8399.

We are following Jesus on his downward journey into weakness and poverty. Jesus was rejected because he called for change: he invited people to change their hearts, to change their way of living and of welcoming others -- especially those who are different.
