NEWS

*    This month you will find a copy of our newly minted L’Arche Nehalem Mandate enclosed with your Newspage.  After many months of listening, sharing, and prayer, the Mandate Discernment Team led the community in a wonderful day on May 9th to affirm and celebrate our new mandate.  We also joyfully and gratefully affirmed Susan Mitchell, snjm in her “yes” to being our Community Leader through this next Mandate.  Special thanks to the Mandate Discernment Team, who put a great deal of time, creativity, and care into shepherding the community through this process!  Our Mandate Discernment Team Members were:  Joe Condon, Clarissa Schoenberg, Monica Ranaghan, Alison Hilkiah, Dan Barcia and Patty McNally.

*    Doug Westberg will be leaving his Business Manager/ Development Coordinator position June 30.  We are deeply grateful for his service to our community these past 10 years, and for the commitment, creativity and energy he has brought us.  The financial management and fund development systems he has helped put in place provide a strong foundation for our community to continue to grow and develop.  Please come thank, honor, and bless Doug at our potluck celebration for him at Neahkahnie House, Thurs. June 25 at 5:30p.m.

Attention Nurses:  Volunteer at L’Arche Nehalem!

Our community needs a nurse consultant to provide training and delegation in specific nursing tasks for our core members.  For retired nurses, this volunteer time can count towards your license. Time commitment involves visits to L’Arche once every 2 to 3 months (2 hours/visit). If interested or for more information, please contact Colleen Casey, 503-708-2523.

Community is the place where people grow in love and peacemaking.  That is why it is imperative for communities to grow, expand and deepen;  and for many new ones to be founded and supported.  To-day war has become too dangerous; it could bring an end to our planet and to the human species.  We are all called to grow in love and forgiveness.
