The community of St. Andrew Catholic Church has been an integral part of the L’Arche Portland family for 30 years. People who experience intellectual disabilities are invited to actively participate in parish life and worship, witnessed in the way Marilyn is supported to be a Eucharistic minister, the relationships that Joni, Ben and Adam have built with parishioners, and Erin's freedom to dance in celebration during liturgy. The St. Andrew community has welcomed and shared the many gifts of L'Arche Portland core members (who experience intellectual disabilities), as well as others in the wider Portland community who experience disabilities.
Additionally, St. Andrew parishioners have been actively involved with the L'Arche Portland community, supporting our mission and homes through their relationships, volunteering and gifts. The relationship between L'Arche Portland and St. Andrew is one of mutual benefit to its members , which this award both celebrates and calls us to deepen.
The L'Arche Portland Board of Directors invites you to join us May 19, from 6pm-8pm, for a festive celebration of our community of people with and without intellectual disabilities and for the award presentation. RSVP by May 15 at www.larche-portland.org/springsocial or by calling 503-251-6901.
