We enjoyed getting out of our usual routines, pairing up with people in our community we don't often get to support or share daily time with, and just enjoy the natural beauty of Central Oregon. Most importantly, we enjoyed spending time together. Each day, we set out in groups or pairs to explore. There was plenty of time for one-on-one activities and adventures as a larger group.
Midweek, the two L'Arche contingents met at A Home to Share for a BBQ with friends and supporters of L'Arche Portland and A Home To Share. Over 30 of us were in attendance. Amy Geoffroy and Cheryl Kuehl even made the trek from Portland to enjoy the BBQ for a few hours. It was great to catch up with friends, meet new people who were eager to learn about life at L'Arche, and enjoy a beautiful outdoor space on a perfect July evening. After a blessing led by Marilyn Pettruzzelli, we made introductions, shared our connections with each community, and called out something we were grateful for that day. Trees, sunshine, friends, community, and hospitality were among the gratitudes named in the circle.
We are so thankful for the quality time we got to spend in Central Oregon with our friends Lizzy, Sandy and their dog Elsa at A Home To Share and for the generosity of everyone who made this vacation possible. An added bonus was that we were able to offer Nehalem House to L'Arche Tahoma Hope for a refreshing getaway for some of their core members and assistants.
Where shall we go next year...?
