DESCRIPTION:You’re invited to join us this spring as we are re-start a rhythm of monthly Spirituality nights at Neahkahnie House! \nYou can save the dates on your calendar – every first Thursday! \nWe will start with a Potluck dinner\, then gather around some candles in the living room to form a Circle of Light. \nThis will be a simple time of singing\, reflection on a reading or image\, and time for folks to share prayers aloud. \nThis month\, we will be practicing the awkward-but-meaningful tradition of foot washing. \n…Foot washing is a L’Arche tradition that helps us reflect on the ways we mutually serve one another each day. It is also a tradition practiced in the Christian Church during Holy Week\, to remember how Jesus modeled and called others to humble service. \n…No one is required to have their own feet washed. DESCRIPTION:You’re invited to come learn about the tradition of Epiphany in the Eastern Orthodox Church and western Christian traditions (Catholic and Protestant)! \nThis has become an annual east-meets-west tradition at L’Arche Portland. We get the chance to each choose a “star word” to inspire the new year\, indulge in homemade Ethiopian food\, and reflect on the elements of light and water that infuse the eastern and western celebrations of Epiphany. \nPlease RSVP using the Google form by Fri 1/9\, so we plan for enough food and can accommodate any dietary restrictions.

SUMMARY:Spirituality Night: Blessing of Creatures
DESCRIPTION:Our community loves “fuzzies”! \nSo as many faith communities will be blessing their pets in honor of Saint Francis\, who held deep love for all creatures – we will also take the opportunity to bless the animals\, the plants\, the sky and earth – and the fellow humans – that surround us! \nYou are invited to bring your beloved pets\, plants\, a photo of a pet who isn’t able to join in-person\, or of a pet who has died. \nWe are partnering with Lincoln Street United Methodist Church for this special time of prayer and celebration. \nThe evening will start out in the Neahkahnie House backyard\, on the east side of Portland. \nThen we will move inside for a potluck dinner! \nRain location will either be pop-up tents or indoors for the entire event. \nPlease RSVP to rsvp@larche-portland.org to receive the Neahkahnie House address\, let us know if you’ll bring a potluck dish\, and anything that might be good to know about animals you might be bringing.
