DESCRIPTION:L’Arche@UP is a long-standing gathering of University of Portland (UP) students and adults with and without intellectual disabilities in the Portland metro area. It is a space to build relationship across difference and explore spiritual meaning together.\n\nWe’ll kick off the school year by bringing in the founder of the REX / L’Arche@UP tradition / partnership\, Dorothy Coughlin\, to share stories about the “early days” of REX (L’Arche@UP’s original name)! \n\n\n \n\n\nShe’ll share why and how the early REX partners came together\, and some of the highlights and antics from over the years. …Wild camping trips\, broken down vans – and beautiful personal growth. \n\n\n \n\n\nWe’ll have light snacks available for our conversation at Saint Mary’s Lounge. \n\nSaint Mary’s Lounge is located on the University of Portland (UP) campus\, near the Chapel and Bell Tower.\n\nAccessible parking is available in the lot between St. Mary’s and the Chapel.\nOthers are asked to park in the big parking lot by the sports fields.\n\nPlease RSVP to rsvp@larche-portland.org\, to help us plan snacks\, chairs\, and access needs accordingly. …Please let us know about any dietary restrictions or other ways we can help you participate fully!

DESCRIPTION:L’Arche Portland is part of a large network of communities across L’Arche International. \nWe’ll celebrate this\, and learn more about our friends in other countries\, through food! \nGabriel House has chosen to focus on Japan and Germany this year\, so we’ll definitely have food from those two countries. \nNow\, YOU can use L’Arche International’s website to choose a country where L’Arche is located\, and prepare a dish or snack from that country to share! \nWhen you RSVP\, please share what country you think you’ll choose – and we’ll prepare a slide show to learn more about each country represented! \nWe’ll gather in Gabriel House’s backyard (Plan B: indoors) for this mini-festival! \nStreet parking is available\, or you can park in the Beaverton Foursquare Church parking lot behind the house\, and come through the back gate.
